Abstract:

Industrial production process of silver handicraft is conventionally done and will be succeed if supported by qualified craftsmen. It is determined by some criteria such as the craftsmen health and fitness, the work organization and work system, including break time, natural work attitude, and good work environment.
The goal of this research, in general, is meant to study about the work activity of female silver craftsmen in small scale silver industry in Singapadu village, Sukawati district, Gianyar regency. In particular, this research is focused on figuring out how far unergonomic work attitude influences the fatigue of female silver craftsmen in in Singapadu village, Sukawati district, Gianyar regency. Hopefully, the research finding can be used as scientific and technological references, in general, and especially it can become input for both the craftsmen and the employer to learn the physiological effects of unergonomic work attitude.
The finding shows that the subjective complaint by female silver craftsmen in Singapadu village is classified into three groups, those are: a. the decline of the craftsmen’s activity resulting in the whole body fatigue (66,7 percent); heavy legs (40 percent); runny eyes (60 percent); and the desire to lay down (66,7 percent), b. the craftsmen’s motivation is shown mostly by difficulty concentration (66,8 percent), c. the craftsmen’s physical fatigue causing stiffness in the shoulders (66,7 percent); back head pain (46,7 percent); eye lid spasm (56,7 percent); and the backache (66,7 percent). The factors causing the subjective complaints are the unnatural working attitude and the intensive improper work environment. The subjective complaints come up because of general and local fatigue.
