Abstract:

Facility layout has enough significant impact to company performances such as costs, work-in process inventory, lead times, productivity, and delivery performance. Good design of facility layout will capable to improve effectiveness and efficient through decreasing distance of transport material and cost of material handling.
In this a research of facility layout in metal company producing assorted metal production. Based of existing problems, facility layout planning was done by cellular manufacturing systems method, that is grouping or clustering of product having equality of design or equality of manufaktur characteristic or merger from both. Method of this clustering is methode rank order clustering (ROC). While to the distance of material handling and cost of material handling use the method of algorithm bolcplan that is the distance rectilinear and apart euclidean.
The results of research were obtained that Relayout better than existing layout. Relayout has rectilinear distance smaller than existing layout. The rectilinear distance reduced 116 m or 13.36% to existing layout and also with decreasing cost of material handling pursuant to distance rectilinear is Rp 18,900/day or decreasing cost of material handling is 16%.
