Abstract:

In welding process,movement of electrode and position of welding affect the mechanic properties of welded material. The objective of this research is to figure out an effect of electrode movement and welding position in welding process on hardness property of Steel SSC 41.The method used in this experimental work is factorial experimental method, namelyelectrode movement and welding position. Three electrodemovement patterns are circle pattern, zig-zag pattern, and C pattern. Meanwhile, three welding positions are horizontal, vertical, and overhead. The result shows thatelectrode movement and welding positionsaffect material hardness significantly. The highest mean value of Vickers Hardness is 513,891 kg/mm2 foroverhead position and C pattern movement. On the other hand, the lowest mean value of Vickers hardness is 441,348 kg/mm2 for vertical and zig-zag pattern electrode movement.
