Abstract:

Production facility lay out is very important thing in want manufacturing factory. Because is closely related with material handling. Material handling activiity will influences the cycle time in product and production cost. With the existence of the factors make the manufacture competition this time tend to increase beside of the other factors is improve the customer desire changing every time. With the change quantity amount from product and product variasi so need the manufacture strategy to face the challenge and to win the market in future. From the problems above appeare the opinion to do the research in a manufacturing business of Perusda Pabrik Logam Batur that has job shop type and needed a calculation method in determining the production lay out to finish the problem. As the lay out that mean is lay out of group technology. Cellular manufacturing system represent the applying from group technology in which the method is classify the parts that will be made on the basis of similarity design and process production.
The method used Single Linkage Clustering (SLC), Complete Linkage Clustering (CLC) and Average Linkage Clustering (ALC). The methods used to classify parts and machines in the manufacture cells. It is expected to reduce total distance material handling so cycle time and material handling cost also can be reduced. The selected method is Single Linkage Clustering (SLC) classified 10 machines and 17 parts into 3 manufacture cells in which cell I consisted of machines 1, 10 and parts 5, 6, 7, 8, 3, 2, 4, 1, 12. Cell II consisted of machines 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, and parts 14, 15, 16, 17. Cell III consisted of machines 3, 9, 4 and parts 10, 11, 9, 13. From the above classification can be found total reduce of material handling distance as big as 71.48 metres/poduct from 450.17 metres / product for first lay out become 378.69 metres / product for relay out. The reduce of cycle time as big as 1.51 minute/product from 1797.22 minute/product for first lay out become 1795.71 minute/product for relay out. The reduce of material handling cost as big as Rp. 829.983,03 / 30 product or Rp. 27.666,1 / product from Rp. 6.004.166 / 30 product for first lay out become Rp. 5.174.182,97 / 30 product for relay out.
