Abstract:

Ammonia is a chemical compound with the formula NH3, generally in the form of 35 ppm for 15 minutes, or 8 hours to 25 ppm. Contact with high concentration of ammonia gas can cause lung damage and even death. The purpose of this study is to design a telemetry system from the ammonia gas concentration measurement unit to the data collector to monitor of gas with a characteristic pungent odor compounds caustic and can damage the health. The time limit for human contact with the ammonia in the gas concentration in real time and continuously. The data collected is integrated with the software, so it can serve as an early warning of changes in the level of concentration of ammonia gas through the deployment of short message system (SMS Gateway) to the public or the industry responsible. The system is two-way, both to respond to requests from the outside and sends the information to the outside. Based on the measurement and test results obtained by means of electronic systems and sensor monitoring shows the system works well. The system uses multiple methods of nodes with sensor TGS-826 can detect changes in gas ammonia-based SMS Gateway by displaying the level of concentration of ammonia gas at a specific time duration with a threshold value under each condition STANDBY = 100ppm, ALERT = 150ppm, and LOOK OUT = 200ppm. Average response time SMS around 6-10 seconds depending on the quality of the signal and traffic data from a provider that is worn by the user.
