Abstract:

ABSTRACT
The world of education which is the foundation of educating the next generation is required to follow the development of Information Technology (IT), but in reality there are many teachers who have not changed and innovate in using IT in learning methodologies. Based on observation there are many students who consider Javanese scripts are difficult to learn in both its pronunciation and form. It is because teachers experience difficulties in explaining the introduction of Javanese language script especially three-dimension characters as Javanese language script subject requires a relatively high visual ability. Augmented Reality (AR) Technology is a technology combining the virtual object and the two-dimension or three-dimension into a real-three dimension environment and then projecting the virtual objects into the real environment. The purpose of this study is to create a catalog of learning by using AR technology for Javanese language script.
The method used in this study was the Microsoft Solution Framework (MSF) with the waterfall system development method and Object Oriented Development (ODD) method. The stages of the study included the problem identification, the initial planning, designing and planning, testing and implementing.
The result of this study is that the AR can display a Javanese language script object into simple three-dimension form which can be comprehensively seen and can be used in learning effectively. The creation of marker in the catalog is more interesting than in only white and black colors.
