Abstract:

There are many difficulties of form and space efficiency in the instrument design with valve, elbow, sudden enlagement, sudden contraction and the other pipe fluid flows causing the losses and oversize if the fluid flow consist of multicomponent. This study aims to discover one phase stream line visualization flow pattern of water and two phase fluid flows with air-water, and then pressure distribution discription
The study was conducted using air-water flow at room temperature ( 27o C – 30o C ). Air flow rates have four variations of sudden contraction pipe of : 1,5 : 1, 2 : 1 dan 2,5 : 1 and water flow rates have five variations with experimental study. The study results indicated that on the stream lines visualization in a good condition in 1.5 : 1 of sudden contraction pipe with the long of circulation zones and the height of (H)as the Re function, at Gl = 4.733 kg/m2sec until Gl = 13.253 kg/m2sec the flux of mass with Xl /H continue at 20.7, 20, 11.02, 7.87, 3.14, while at the ratio of 2:1 and 2.5 :1 the Re relation toXl /H are out of sight because of section test limited.
The Flow patterns visualization of two phase flow at supervition velocity of Jg = 0.048 m/s, Jl = 0.622 m/s occurred are plug flow, and stratified wave flow at Jg = 0.065 m/s, Jl = 0.622 m/s and slug flow at Jg = 0.065 m/s, Jl = 0.622 m/s.
The result of gauge and computing the pressure distribution thruoght tube axis shown that the pressure gradient increase with increasing the mass flux of (G) and the cuality of (x). The Pressure distributionat the assumption of homogen flow bigger than separation flow assumption as using Chisholm theory.
